It’s games season!! Soccer, football and rugby are all back for the next few months….. so what is the ideal fashion for a lady to sport when attending a game or two?
Last weekend I had the opportunity of going to my first American football game. It was the first game of the college football season in the US and also my first time in Aviva Stadium for a sports event. Myself and my friend decided we were going to support Boston College…….because my friend said it was the right team to support!!
Most times, when going to a match, people seem to wear casualwear with the colours of the team they support. I was so looking forward to going through my wardrobe for some maroon and gold colours, unfortunately all I found was a lot of office/evening wear and some tops in the colours of the opposing team. I thought I will just change the team I would support, to make it easier for my wardrobe choices ……..until I checked the weather report.
It was going to rain cats and dogs, so my whole outfit idea had to change. In the end, I wore something warm and waterproof, not sporting even one colour of either team. I was cheering for Boston College, even though they lost, but it was all about the craic and the experience.
Sometimes, we sweat the small things when it comes to what to wear to different sport events and end up damping our enjoyment of the occasion. For a game outfit, definitely go for comfy rather than classy….. and remember to pick the winning team !!

So a summer siren….huh? Sirens are found in many Greek stories, Homer’s Odyssey for instance. Sirens were beautiful, yet dangerous creatures, their lovely music was said to entice sailors to their doom.

When I put on my outfit on that morning, I never thought I will walk through the park under the sun and red flowers. The outfit was my choice and my environment just helped me look like a ‘summer siren’. Sometimes our environment and society can influence how we look but at the end of day we are our own style Picassos!!
What caught my eye was the shirts these men wore. Until now, I didn’t know that the scotched shirts were the lumberjack shirts. The shirts were mostly of wine and black shade but have since expanded to include various different colours. A lot of men have a lumberjack shirts in some shade or other.
What I like about these shirts is the casual and comfort factor. You can dress them in many ways and in whatever way you like. There are lumberjack shirt dresses which you can accessorise with sandals in summer or in winter with tights and boots. Who knew even shirts woren by axeman could be a wardrobe essential for ladies.

Now the 1960s are back on the high streets, in different forms and trends. Although the minis ruled the roost, flares, midis (for the conservative types) and velvet were all part of the 60s trend.
Sometimes, when I buy clothes and wear them, it takes someone to remind me what era I’m rocking. Our clothes are all from past decades, just not of the same quality in most cases. Your mum’s wardrobe might have looked like a fashion nightmare when you were 14 years old but if you visit it now, it’s a haven of vintage, durable fabric and great quality clothes.
Before you put away those wonderful clothes, think about how the next generation will appreciate your wardrobe, when it comes back in fashion 50 years from now. Maybe in next few decades kids will be walking around wearing technology-based outfits……..so our outfits will be a little bit unique!
I have blogged about a lot of colours in the last year but never about white. I suppose it’s because it is a colour I never thought too much about until recently, when I noticed that even my wardrobe’s pallet is displaying a shimmer of white! We all strive for change in our lives, we want to feel at peace, within and without, and that’s where the colour white can work perfectly. It is said that attraction to white clothes or accessories might be viewed as a wish for new beginnings and renewal or it might even encourage the purification of one’s thoughts and actions – so, I took this as a sign for me and put it to test….
As it’s the summertime, I have decided to wear all white on a few different occasions and I have to admit, I feel very energetic, peaceful and happy.
White is the prettiest colour that can complement any other hue…… so, if you are not all about white then put it to use with darker coloured clothing.
Blazers and Cropped Jackets: Blazers are great with whatever outfit you might be wearing. You can dress them up…or down. Try throwing a nice blazer or a smart jacket on top of whatever outfit you’re wearing and you will not only look amazingly stylish but you’ll also be warm.
Scarfs and shawls: You may recall
Coats and rain jackets: I have to admit there was one day last week it suddenly turned so cold that I had to reach for my tucked away winter coat. Remember, you can always wear your lightweight summer outfit underneath.
Whatever you decide to wear for the occasion, just make sure that you feel cozy and that it is weather proof!
The question of the day though was…..what to wear? Believe me, it’s always a big question for most ladies!
Most restaurants are not overly particular about what people wear but I think it’s nice to dress appropriately when going to a restaurant, no matter the time or occasion. Something formal or smart casual will be ideal.
I, personally, find skirts and dresses are very safe and comfortable, especially during this summer period. As we were on a work lunch break, we were already in the right outfits…..thanks to the sunny weather.
Walking back to the office, a lady stopped and complimented us on how beautiful we looked……thus ending our lunch date on a happy note.
Little girls around the world love pink. It is a colour that reflects sweetness, innocence and uncomplicated emotions. Most of us have associated pink with the ‘Barbie’ revolution but now fashion is certainly having a close affection with this colour and it’s creeping into the grown up wardrobes.
There are many shades of pink……magenta, hot pink, rose, bubblegum, watermelon, fuscia….to name a few. Whichever pink you pick, it’s guaranteed to make your outfit fizz.

Being skinny was something I had to explain to people all the time……..because to them I was either not eating properly or there was something very wrong with my biological makeup! It didn’t vex me at all because it is my body and I’m happy and comfortable in it all the time.
The silhouette of the “ideal woman” has been ever changing for centuries which means the physical qualities we embrace today were there in yesteryear and will be there for the generations to come. From the 1920s until now, there has been many beauty trends, mostly influenced by fashion, movies, politics and music. The bottom line is no matter what your body shape is, love yourself and be confident in it.
As a Mad Men fan, I loved Joan Holloway’s (Christina Hendricks) amazing curvy figure. She is beautiful, classy and confident.
Just like fashion, or even food, beauty trends are subjective and ever changing but remember confidence is timeless. Go on ……..embrace what your Mama gave you!!
A mixture mixture of blues with whites and reds makes it a happier and more colourful Spring. The good news is that the Klein blue works with all skin tones so anyone can rock it. If the outfit is not doing the business, there are always shoes and handbags to help.
Don’t feel blue this Spring. Stay calm……. be mesmerising and colourful in whatever hue of blue takes your fancy.
